How is a slushy cup different from a slushie machine?
A slushy cup has no motor. The cold comes from a sealed freezing gel inside the wall of the cup. Once the empty cup has been in the freezer for four to six hours, you pour in a cold drink and squeeze. The drink freezes against the walls and turns to slush in about a minute. A machine does the freezing and stirring for you, in a much bigger container, and needs to be plugged in.
Which one is better for kids?
The cup. A child can hold it, squeeze it and make their own slushy, which is half the fun. It is made from BPA-free food-grade materials, and there is no blade, no motor and nothing to plug in. A machine is an electric kitchen appliance, so an adult should run it.
Which one is better for parties?
The machine. If you are serving eight people at once, a cup that makes one drink at a time will not keep up, even if you have several. A machine makes a big batch and keeps pouring. If parties are the main reason you want slushies, the machine is worth looking at.
How long does each one take?
The cup needs planning: four to six hours in the freezer first, and overnight is easier. After that, each slushy takes about a minute of squeezing. Most people leave the cup in the freezer so it is always ready. For the machine, check the model's manual, as the time depends on the drink and the amount. Which one costs less to run?
The cup. It uses no electricity, no pods and no special syrup: you use the cold drinks you already buy. The full price comparison is in how much is a slushy cup.
