How the Slushy Cup actually works

Read this once and you will know everything you need to.

  • 300 ml / 10 fl oz
  • BPA-free
  • Hand wash only
STEP BY STEP

The four steps

Freeze the cup once, then turn any cold drink into slush whenever you feel like one.

  1. Freeze the cup

Pop the empty cup in the freezer for four to six hours. Overnight is easiest.

  2. Pour in any cold drink

Juice, lemonade, iced coffee, soda. If it is cold, it works.

  3. Squeeze for about a minute

Give it a steady squeeze. You will feel it turn to slush in your hands.

  4. Rinse and refreeze

Hand wash only. Back in the freezer, ready for the next round.

WHAT WORKS

Drinks that slush well

Juice

Any brand. Orange, apple, mango, berry.

Lemonade and sodas

Sugar is what gives slush its soft texture. Sugar-free and diet drinks set hard rather than slushy, so stir in a spoonful of sugar if you want to use them.

Iced coffee and iced tea

Chill first. Sweetened tastes better as slush.

Sports drinks

Great after a run. Cold and slushy.

What not to pour

Nothing hot, and never freeze the cup with a drink already in it. It goes in empty. Milk and oat milk both work well, just not milk that is close to its date.

CARE

Keep it working for years

Hand wash only

Warm water and mild soap. No dishwasher, no hot water.

Dry the outside before refreezing

A dry cup freezes faster and cleaner.

Freeze upright

It keeps the gel evenly distributed for the next round.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Something not right?

Freezing times, cleaning, shipping, returns. The answers we send most often, in one place.

It's not turning to slush.

Your cup probably was not frozen long enough. Give it a full overnight freeze and try again. If the drink is warm, chill it first.

Still flat after a full freeze? Walk through the freezing checks.

It leaks a little.

The lid must be lined up with the arrows on the cup. If it still leaks, do not fill above the top ring.

More on what makes a cup leak, and how to stop it.

The gel feels soft even after 6 hours.

Your freezer might be set too warm. Aim for −18°C or 0°F.

If the freezer is cold enough and it is still soft, these are the usual causes.

The cup is hard to squeeze.

A cup straight out of a very cold freezer needs a minute on the counter before the walls give. If it is still stiff, or it squeezes but nothing thickens, here is what to check.
